Yesterday, August 15, 2007, CIR members at UNM voted unanimously to ratify our first union contract. The contract is the result of five months of negotiations between the CIR bargaining committee and the UNM administration. The contract immediately delivers significant salary increases averaging seven percent across PGYs, along with a reopening of salary negotiations in April 2008 to discuss further increases. The contract also creates a brand new Patient Care Fund of $25,000 per year for residents to use to purchase patient care-related items and equipment for the hospital.  Other benefits include seven paid holidays and two weeks paid maternity/paternity leave.
