UNM Housestaff Attend CIR/SEIU National Convention, 6/13/07

June 13, 2007

A delegation of representatives from the University of New Mexico attended the CIR National Convention in Philadelphia, PA the weekend of May 18-20. They were warmly welcomed into the union by the more than 260 CIR members, alumni, and guests from around the country that the convention brought together. This year’s convention marked CIR’s 50th Anniversary, allowing the opportunity to celebrate our history and plan for our future. During the convention’s plenary sessions, the assembled CIR delegates representing over 60 hospitals across the country, plotted an ambitious national agenda for CIR’s continued growth both in members, and as a voice for patient advocacy and health care reform. As part of UNM’s formal initiation into CIR, the CIR House of Delegates unanimously voted to officially establish New Mexico as a CIR region within the union by-laws.
