Your CIR/SEIU Negotiating Committee is laying the groundwork to begin negotiations with UNM. Using the contract survey results, the CIR/SEIU Negotiating Committee is in the process of completing our initial proposals to present at the first round of negotiations. To start the process on a positive note, we’ve:
- Met with Governor Richardson’s Chief of Staff and Health Policy Director to discuss why UNM housestaff voted to join CIR/SEIU and the positive impact CIR/SEIU will have on patient care at UNMH.
- Met with Lt. Governor Diane Denish to discuss CIR/SEIU’s priorities for contract bargaining and common goals for healthcare in the state of New Mexico.
- Toured both the current and new hospitals with UNM administration to help explain the work of Housestaff and the challenges we face.
- Met with Dean Roth and to present and explain the results of the Housestaff survey.
Negotiations with UNM are set to begin the week of April 2nd 2007. For questions please talk to your department’s Negotiating Committee Representative(s) or call the union office at (505) 244-8779.
